San Jose State women’s soccer (0-8-4, 0-2-2 MW) finished with a scoreless draw in a road conference matchup against Wyoming (3-4-5, 1-1-2 MW).

The Spartans are still searching for their first win of the season and have been struggling to get the offense going.

SJSU had a total of two shots compared to Wyoming’s 24 total shots throughout the game.

Senior midfielder Taylor Phillips and senior forward Kennedy Mayo were the two Spartans that attempted a shot.

The offensive woes continued to show as the Spartans produced one corner kick while the Cowgirls produced 12.

The Cowgirls powered the defense through their attacking offense, but were unable to earn a goal.

Senior forward Maddi Chance led the offense with five shots for Wyoming.

Wyoming freshman defender Maddie Burr put up four shots, the second most for the Cowgirls and forward Alyssa Bedard attempted three shots for third most.

However, SJSU senior goalkeeper Shayla Sugai  recorded six saves for the Spartans.

Sugai played not only a vital role in preventing Wyoming from scoring, but also preventing another loss for the Spartans.

Sugai had her first shutout of the season and second of her career for the Spartans.

With a minute left to play, SJSU senior forward Bella Flocchini contested a foul which awarded Wyoming a free kick.

Wyoming senior Taylor Brook had a chance to seal the victory for the Cowgirls, but ended up failing to convert the kick.

The Spartans were saved from adding another loss to their record, but their defense stepped up to draw the game at 0-0 despite their offensive struggles.

The Spartans will look to get in the win column in their next match against Nevada scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Spartan Soccer Complex.
