San Jose State track and field sent a pair of throwers to Fresno State for the West Coast Relays from March 22-23.

To start things off, the Spartans competed in the only event of the first day with the Hammer throws. Senior Pablo Villasenor and sophomore Ashton Headley placed in second and third place with scores of 54.45 and 53.59 meters. Headley would go on to cheer for Villasenor for the rest of the meet.

In the final day, Villasenor showed his muscle by winning the shot put event. He threw for 14.74 meters. In the final field event of the meet, Villasenor continued him momentum in the discus throw. He threw for 46.22 meters, nearly three meters more than the runner-up.

The Spartans were able to steal two event wins under Villasenor while Headley got some much needed experience.

Villasenor and Headley will have plenty of time to rest up their arms for the next invitational. The Spartans will go to Palo Alto, Calif. on Friday for the Stanford Invitational to continue their outdoor season.
