SJSU men’s soccer (6-6-4, WAC 3-3-1) got off to an early lead against Seattle University (10-2-3, WAC 5-0-1), but could not hold onto the lead in the second half losing 2-1.

Head coach Simon Tobin thought it was simply a tale of two different halves.

“I thought that we owned the first half and had a tremendous performance,” Tobin said. “But in the second half, Seattle imposed themselves on us physically, made some good chances and put a couple away.”

SJSU’s lone goal of the match came from sophomore defender Niklas Dossman at 44:28. As a defender Dossman does not get many opportunities to score but, he takes advantage of the chances he gets as he is a perfect 2-2 on the season.

SJSU controlled time of possession and were able to create chances in the first half managing to get 6 shots off. Despite playing the better half, Seattle University still outshot SJSU 7-6.

In the second half it was all Seattle University as they outshot SJSU 10-4.

SJSU is now prepping for the WAC tournament which takes place in Las Vegas from Nov. 5-11.

“We need to regroup, and my hope is we get to play them again in the tournament,” Tobin said. ‘We have one game left in Texas and a good win will put us in a good frame of mind for the tournament.”

SJSU men’s soccer will take on UT Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas on Oct. 26 at 4:30 p.m.
