Yesterday was a game to forget as nothing went SJSU’s way losing 15-0 to the University of San Francisco.
USF poured in 15 runs including nine in the sixth inning alone and its fielders handled almost every flyball and ground ball from the Spartans who were shutout by the Dons.
Kyle Morrison, Josh Nashed and Aaron Pleschner combined to give the Spartans their only four hits for the day.
USF started with two runs in the first inning and added two more in the fourth.
But it was the sixth inning that hammered the nail in the coffin for SJSU as The Dons’ five singles, lone double, two walks and two hit batters contributed to six runs.
To add the cherry on top, Dominic Miroglio homered over the left wall in the bottom of the seventh to make it 14-0. Aaron Ping had one last hoorah for USF when he singled to the left and brought in Riley Helland for the game’s final run.
Catcher Jack Veasey and third baseman Michael Breen even had a rare chance to take the mound in the seventh and eighth innings for SJSU.
SJSU will face the Dons in San Francisco again at 1 p.m. before returning to two more games against the Dons at Municipal Stadium the following two days.
