The San Jose State women’s soccer team (0-3-3,0-0 MW) tied to the University of the Pacific (3-0-5, 0-0 BW) on Sunday in Stockton, 1-1.

SJSU senior midfielder Kiana Miyazato from SJSU scored the goal right off a pass from junior midfielder Jordan Rowell after a throw in pass was given right to Rowell just three minutes into the game.

The Spartans were looking for another opportunity to score. After that shot, they were only able to shoot the ball one more time towards the goal in the first half. The Tigers were able to outshoot The Spartans, 10-1. In the second half, SJSU was having trouble trying to have possession of the ball.

We made gains in the first half, we didn’t start the 2nd half right and it costed us,” said head coach Tina Estrada postgame.

The Tigers came swinging right out of the half thanks to sophomore midfielder Aniela Jensen. She scored in the 53 minute mark of the match off a free kick from graduate defender Abigail Wolf.

After the goal was made, the Spartans mainly played defense throughout the rest of the second half. The Spartan’s freshman goalkeeper Bente Pernot made some crucial blocks to keep the game tied. Through a hard fought game, the Spartans couldn’t pull it off to get the win.

With that, both teams are looking for its first win’s of the season.

Take the positives from this game and finish off our non conference play on Thursday at home hopefully on the right page,” Estrada said.

The Spartans hope to get their first win back at the Spartan Soccer Complex on Thursday, Sept 15. at 7:00 p.m.
