The first matchup in a three-game series resulted in a loss for San Jose State softball against UNLV on Thursday, 5-0.
“It was a battle,” said senior Caroline Bowman.
Bowman summarized the first game against the Rebels, the beginning starting out difficult for the Spartans. The Rebels, with a record of 29-9, were in the lead in the second inning, 1-0.
“We just [got to] come back the next couple of days and make some adjustments,” said head coach Tammy Lohmann.
Some of the adjustments during the game included switching pitchers during the last innings. Despite the adjustments made in a short notice, UNLV maintained their lead. The Rebels secured their win during the sixth inning, four players scored that resulted in a 5-0 lead.
With this loss, the players also agreed with coach Lohmann’s focus on making adjustments during the games.
“We have to make adjustments more quicker, obviously we see the pitching was up and down and we need to fix our adjustments at the plate,” said junior Jocylyn Vidal.
During the next two games, the Spartans will look toward the adjustments being made in the next game against UNLV on Friday, at the Spartan Softball Stadium at 3 p.m.
