San Jose State women’s basketball (4-19, 1-11 MW) will be facing off against the University of Wyoming Cowgirls in a Valentine’s Day rematch Monday night.

SJSU recently played the Colorado State Rams on Saturday in a losing effort 84-70.

Stars senior forward Cyndi Lewis and junior guard Ella Ogier led the Spartans with 17 points apiece. Ogier also had four assists and three steals while Lewis had eight rebounds and two assists.

The Spartans and Cowgirls faced off last Wednesday in Laramie, Wyo. where the Spartans fell short in a disappointing loss 75-54. Monday’s game is rescheduled from Jan. 6 due to COVID.

SJSU started off strong and kept up with the UW momentum and pace for the first half but after halftime things went downhill fast. The Cowgirls took the lead and ran with it until the final quarter where they had almost a 20-point lead on the Spartans and ended the game.

If the Spartans could just stay on the Cowgirls under the rim they could’ve won this game easily but it was easy points just given away. By giving away 23 offensive rebounds the odds just weren’t in SJSU’s favor.

Hopefully after last week’s game SJSU has remembered the tricks UW has under its sleeve to bring a win back to the San Jose State campus.

You can watch the Spartans’ and Cowgirls’ rematch at the Provident Credit Union Event Center Monday at 6 p.m.
