San Jose State men’s soccer (1-1) plays its third match of the season against Houston Baptist University (0-4-1) on Saturday.
The Spartans have played well to start the season, despite an unfortunate loss in their previous game against Grand Canyon University 3-2.
SJSU led for the majority of the game until towards the end when the Spartans committed two penalties, giving GCU two penalty kicks.
Texas has some fair weather on Saturday, which brings hope that the Spartans can keep their cool and prevent the other team from getting any more penalty kicks.
Other than that, Saturday is shaping up to be SJSU’s game.
The Spartans pose a threat through their senior strength and experience with 12 seniors on their roster.
The Huskies have fairly young members with seven freshmen and 10 sophomores.
Houston Baptist has struggling, most recently falling to UNLV and finishing with a losing record in its past five seasons.
The Huskies are currently on a four game losing streak, and it looks like the Spartans may turn that into five games.
SJSU travels to the Lone Star state to take on Houston Baptist at 12 P.M. Saturday at Sorrels Field.
