San Jose State men’s basketball (3-20, 0-11 MW) continues to struggle, but looks to get revenge against UNLV (13-11, 7-5 MW) at the Event Center in its second meeting Saturday.
The Spartans are now on a 14-game losing streak and have an opportunity to get their first conference win against the Rebels. SJSU lost 94-56 in the first meeting back in January.
The Rebels shot 52.3 percent from the field and 48.4 percent from deep. The Spartans need to limit easy shots and stay aggressive on the defensive end throughout the game.
The team was also able to rack up 11 steals and forced 15 turnovers. The Spartans cannot allow this to happen if they want a chance at their first MW victory.
UNLV will try to get freshman forward Joel Ntambwe going early. He is averaging 12 points per game on 42.7 percent shooting.
Ntambwe is also dangerous from three by shooting 41.2 percent. He can score from anywhere efficiently and would be the catalyst to a Spartans victory.
Junior forward Michael Steadman will need to have a repeat performance for the Spartans to challenge the Rebels. He posted 14 points and 7 boards.
Steadman was the only player to reach double-digit scoring and will look to be the leading scorer again.
Tip off is at 2 p.m. in the Event Center.
