San Jose State gymnastics (3-4-1, 0-1 MW) finished in second place out of four with a score of 194.500 as it hosted its first home meet of the season on Jan. 26.
Fellow Mountain West foe Boise State (6-3-1, 1-0) finished first while Sacramento State and UC Davis finished third and fourth respectively.
Sophomore Devyn Valuch stole the show winning her first all-around title with a career-best 38.975. Valuch excelled on her floor routine finishing with a team-high 9.750.
Graduate student Jaudai Lopes led the vault team as she landed with a season-best 9.850.
“Being early in the season we know we can do better in some of our landings and tiny details,” San Jose State head coach Joanne Bowers said. “But we asked the team to go attack everything and go big and step in the right direction and they did that at all four events.”
Senior Sophia Konieczny swung a season-best 9.825 on the bars to lead SJSU.
It was a quick home stand for the Spartans as they will compete on the road for the next three dual-meets in critical conference matchups.
SJSU’s first stop will be at USAFA, Colo. to take on Air Force (2-1, 1-0) on Jan. 31 at 6 p.m.
