San Jose State women’s golf finished 15th out of 19 teams in the Stanford Collegiate held Oct. 18-20 at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford.
Sophomore Moa Anderson opened up the first round with a strong start, hitting one under par. Later into the tournament however, she fell down in the leaderboards hitting eight over par in the final two rounds.
Behind her was Junior Rebecca Gyllner, who struggled through the first two rounds hitting +9. She had a nice bounceback in the final round hitting even par.
It was a solid start to the tournament by the Spartans, as the entire team hit a +5 in the first round. They were placed in eighth.
They couldn’t find a groove afterwards, hitting thirteen more strokes in round two. SJSU fell seven spots down the rankings and couldn’t recover.
“Wasn’t our best day today,” SJSU head coach Dana Dormann said. “We have some work to do to climb our way up the rankings.”
The Spartans will travel west to play in the Nanea Invitational on Oct. 28-30 at the Nanea Golf Club in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
