San Jose State tennis played a three-day tournament in Northridge, Calif. and made program history during an extremely successful weekend.

Day one began with singles against Idaho, with the first singles match won by junior Irene Muradyan. SJSU tennis went on to sweep all seven matches on day one.

On day one in the doubles matches, SJSU continued to look solid by beating Youngstown State 2-1 in sets.

Muradyan got her second match win of the day in doubles along with fifth-year Alba Pedrero Galindo who played alongside one another.

SJSU tennis finished 10-1 on the day.

Day two featured another dominant performance, beginning with singles win over Sacramento State.

Junior Carolina Millan began the singles with a win in two sets by score of 6-3, 6-3.

In two doubles matches against Fullerton, the pairings of Muradyan/Pedrero Galindo and senior Rosalina Youseva and junior Jovana Babic got the wins.

At the end of the day SJSU tennis finished 6-2 and looked to continue the momentum into Sunday’s matches.

They would do just that by not losing a single match both in singles and doubles on the day.

It was a historic day as the Spartans set a new record by not losing a single match on day three. Sweeping all six of their individual matches and sweeping all four doubles matches as well.

Once again Muradyan shined going undefeated on the day winning in her singles match by 6-3 and 6-1.

Youseva also went undefeated on the day winning all of her singles matches.

“We swept all of our matches today and we went ten and zero. We won six out of six against Youngtown State in singles…good end of the fall (tournament),” said head coach Chad Skorupka.

SJSU tennis’s next tournament is in Honolulu Hawaii on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
