San Jose State women’s basketball (4-20, 1-12 MW) will be traveling to Southern California to take on the San Diego State Aztecs (11-13, 5-8 MW) Wednesday night.
The Spartans just played the Wyoming Cowgirls on Monday in a game that was rescheduled due to COVID-19 in January. The Cowgirls lassoed the Spartans in a game ending 84-64, making this the fourth straight game SJSU has lost.
Star senior forward Cyndi Lewis came out on top, ending the night with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Junior guard Ella Ogier took the scoring lead with 19 points and three rebounds. Ogier shot 6-9 from the field and 2-3 from the 3-point.
Freshman guard Sidney Richards is showing promising potential with each game she plays. Richards only scored eight points and had two rebounds but from off the bench she is being forceful and trying to do as much as she can for SJSU.
SDSU is coming back from playing UNLV last Saturday, losing 76-67.
The Aztecs kept up with the Rebels for most of the game shooting 44% from the field but fell short during the fourth quarter where they shot just 29%.
SJSU will need to keep a close eye on SDSU’s underclassman players as they were killing it during the game against the UNLV.
SDSU’s freshman guard Sophia Ramos led the Aztecs with 18 points and six rebounds. This was Ramos’ 100th career game and was her 81st game scoring double digits.
Freshman guard Mallory Adams also played strong, scoring 14 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
If the Spartans can play more cohesively and with more vigor as a team they could take down the Aztecs Wednesday night.
