Spartans looking to stop the Tigers

San Jose State women’s soccer (3-6, 0-1 WAC) will continue conference play as it is set to host Colorado College (1-6-1, 0-0-1 WAC).

The Spartans are coming off a tough overtime loss against Air Force 3-2 after they found the back of the net with only 13 seconds remaining in the second overtime period.

The first half was scoreless with both sides playing strong defense. Eventually, both teams got going on offense and increased the pace of the game.

Despite a solid first overtime period to keep the Falcons from finding the back of the net, the Spartans could not finish strong in the second to force the draw.

SJSU finished the game with 18 total shot attempts with seven of those being on goal.

The Spartans will now travel back to San Jose to take on a struggling Tigers team with the hope of splitting their opening conference matches.

Colorado is coming off of a 1-1 draw against Fresno State and is looking to try and swing the momentum after a disappointing start to the season.

The last time these two squads met was in 2019 where the Tigers got their first win against SJSU after not recording against them for five  years. The Spartans hold a 5-1 record against the Tigers  since 2014.

The Spartans will need to show consistency on the defense when they get to the closing stages which has been a weak point for them this season so far.

SJSU is looking to bounce back as they are currently on a three-game losing streak with two of those games resulting in shutouts.

The kick-off is scheduled for 12 p.m at the Spartan Soccer Complex.
