San Jose State men’s soccer (1-0) plays its second game of the season against Sacramento State University (0-2).
The Spartans seem to be off to a great start, as they defeated CSU Bakersfield (2-1) and it’s hopeful that they could keep this momentum going into their next game.
During SJSU’s match against the Roadrunners, midfielder senior Willy Miranda and defender Omar Lemus stood out in a big way, since they both managed to score goals for the Spartans.
It would be great to see more from Miranda and Lemus who both made huge contributions for their team, or see more from the rest of the team as the season progresses.
So far the blue and gold have a total of four shots on goal, while the Hornets have 10 shots on goal.
This shows that Sacramento State has a slight advantage on the offensive side of the ball, which could be troubling for SJSU.
So far, the Spartans goalie recorded one save during their game against CSUB, while it was only their first game of the season, it will be interesting to see how Spartans’ defenders will continue to respond against offensive pushes from the opposition.
On a similar note, the Hornets as they have only 2 recorded goalie saves, both teams defense could look to improve as the game plays today.
The Hornets are coming off of back-to-back losses to begin their season, they will be looking to break the ice against the Spartans and secure their first win, as the Spartans look to go 2-0 to start their season.
Kick-off is at 7 p.m. today at the San Jose Spartan Soccer complex and will be aired live on the WAC Digital Network.
