A great day for the San Jose State men’s water polo team (11-12 GCC) after defeating ivy league school Princeton University (18-6 The Ivy League) 11-7 in the Julian Fraser Memorial tournament.
The game felt like a game of tag, one team scoring right after the other, but it wasn’t until the fourth period when the Spartans completely switched up the game.
From the start until the end of the fourth period, SJSU went into full power mode and took the Tigers on for a swim.
The score skyrocketed with the Spartans knocking out seven goals.
Within the last three minutes of the game, the Spartans performance in the water was impressive putting the ball in the back of the net six times.
Sophomore utility player Mark Kis had a stellar performance finishing the game with five goals.
Kis scored the first goal during the first period with a man advantage. Found the back of the cage during the third period and scored three more in the fourth period taking the Spartans to victory.
Freshman utility player Laszlo Szieben fired a shot during the third period with an extra attacker on him, but found the back of the net. Laszlo scored another goal during the fourth period with a minute in a half left in the game.
Freshman utility player Bende Pardi scored a goal on a six on five play against the Tigers.
Senior goalkeeper Yahav Fire was credited with the win and scored the last two points of the game with 13 seconds left on the clock and down to the very last second he found the back of the cage.
Coming off a successful win, the Spartans will return to the SRAC pool tomorrow to take on Brown University.
Make sure to rise and shine.
Game starts at 8 a.m.
