San Jose State University women’s volleyball (4-3) was swept in three sets by the University of Colorado (6-0).
The Spartans did their best against the Buffs but were no match for the players of CU as they had a 14% in kills per set, which showed that they had a better offensive strategy compared to SJSU who only had 13.1%
During the first set, the Buffs and Spartans traded points off of one another, with the score being as close as 11-8 at one point.
However, CU managed to keep SJSU at bay, as they held the Spartans to ten points for a majority of the game.
The Buffs scored as much as 24 points before the Spartans scored only one point until CU ended the set 25-11.
As the two teams moved to the second set, SJSU managed to execute a better game plan against CU, thanks to players such as freshman middle blocker Brooke Bryant and senior outside hitter Haylee Nelson who managed to make kills and score for the Spartans.
Even with the Spartans matching the Buffs, CU still took the win to bring the second match to a close, 25-21.
As the game moved to the third set, SJSU still found themselves in a pickle with no wins for either set.
The Buffs managed to push the throttle and keep their momentum and continued to pour it onto the Spartans.
SJSU only managed to score three points at the beginning of the match while CU commanded a strong eight-point lead 11-3.
A majority of CU points were thanks to the Spartans making seven attack errors which remained a theme throughout the match.
Similar to the first set, the Buffs ended the third and final set 25-11, sweeping the match against SJSU.
The Spartans lost back-to-back games in Colorado and they play the final match of their three-game road trip against Texas Tech University today at 12 p.m.which will be streamed live on the Pac-12 Network.
