With two players injured, the San Jose State women’s tennis team found it hard to win its match against Cal State Fullerton.

The Spartans lost their match 4-3. This marks their sixth match lost out of eight played this season.

The team did manage to stay close throughout the match, staying one point away from the Titans.

During doubles, the first round was 6-1 putting the Spartans back by a handful of points.

The third round was forfeited because there was no player for SJSU. This put the Titans ahead of the match by one point.

The Spartans fought hard during singles as round one ended with a score of 6-0, 6-4.

During the second round the team received a score of 6-1, 6-2, 6-1. The third round ended with a score of 6-2, 6-0. San Jose state was starting to slowly catch up to the Titans.

By the fourth round the score was 6-1, 6-0 . With two rounds away they had no option but to keep pushing that lead the spartans to finish the fifth round with a score of 6-1, 6-3.

The last round had to be forfeited since San Jose state is short on players.  The single matches helped the team step up and finished the match with three points.

With regards to their injured players things don’t look too good for the Spartans.

“They are really hurt is not the type of injury that you can take a couple days off ,” said head coach Chad Skorupka.”We have a couple of serious injuries that we are working with right now.”

Despite the injuries the team is dealing with, they had a decent performance this past weekend.

SJSU will continue to prepare for the  match against Furman on March 13 at 12 p.m in the spartan complex.
