SJSU (5-4) took a tough 75-58 loss against Montana (3-4) and head coach Tim Miles summed the game up in one quote.

“Montana just kicked our butts all night,” Miles said. “Really nothing changed from one half to the other, we could never get on track on offense.”

The Spartans never once held the lead during the game on Saturday.

A big key to Montana’s success in the game came from shutting down SJSU’s top scorers. The Grizzlies held senior forward Trey Anderson to five points, shooting 2-8 from the field and they held junior forward Tibet Goerner to five points, shooting 1-7 from the field.

The only Spartan to score double-digits was sophomore forward William Humer, who recorded 11 points in 16 minutes of action.

Freshman guard Latrell Davis also contributed some nice scoring off the bench dropping 9 points in 13 minutes played.

Something to watch potentially over the next few games will be to see if Davis will get a bigger role with the Spartans after junior guard Ryen Perry did not play against Montana after suffering an injury in a loss against Cal Poly.

The offensive struggles against Montana are something that Miles plans to address head-on.

“We’ve got to correct that in a hurry,” Miles said. “We’ve got a short turnaround for North Dakota State and we’ve got Montana again in a couple of weeks.”

SJSU will wrap up this three-game road trip by facing North Dakota State (4-4) on Dec. 4th at 5 p.m.

SJSU will rematch Montana on December 17th at home.
